FROM THE EAST

      Brethren,

How quickly a year goes! It seems like yesterday I was installed as
Master of our lodge. Now I will turn the reins of leadership over to
W.·. Rich Giordano for the coming year. Give him the support he and our
lodge need to advance and grow as a Masonic influence
in our lives and in our community.

Our first meeting this month will be an Education Night. Come to
lodge and learn something new about the Craft. The Installation of
Officers for 2009-2010 will be on June 19. There will be a pre-meeting
dinner at 7 PM and the Installation will follow.
Come on down, break bread with your Brothers, and support
our lodge with your presence at Installation.

I wish to thank all the brethren for their support of Stewart Manor –
St. Albans Lodge this past year. As I said last June we will succeed –
or we will fail – by what we do (or don’t do) together as a lodge. I
believe we have had a successful year these past twelve months. Let’s
make 2009-2010 an even better year.

ST. ALBANS V.A. VISITATION

For those of you who don’t already know, the Masons of Second Nassau,
and especially Stewart Manor - St. Albans Lodge, volunteer our
time for the Veterans of our namesake ‘Veterans Home’ and the
‘Extended Care Center’(Hospital), “St. Albans.”

Conveniently located just about 5 miles from our old
Masonic Temple in Floral Park, off Linden Blvd. (near 178th St.)

We meet as a group twice a month, on the 1st Tuesday & 2nd Sunday
every month. The residents enjoy playing a few friendly games
of BINGO, talking and having coffee and cake served to them
afterwards. They all go away with a gift, chits (money for the gift shop)
and a smile on their face J . So will you, if you come.

If you think you, your “significant other” & even our Widows
can spare about 3 hours (Between the hours of about 1PM - 3:15PM)
once or even twice a month for our Veterans -
give me a call! I might even be able
to pick you up along the way (depending on where you live).

Mrs. Jean Harrison, died on Friday, April 17, 2009.
It was unexpected.
She was the wife of a Mason, Bro. Bruce Harrison and the mother of a our own Brother, Robert Harrison.

R.·.W.·.Arthur J. Sacktig passed away on March 20, 2009.
He was Master in 1976.
He was 90 years old and was a Mason for 58 years.

Bro. William L. Cutrone passed away
on or about February 23, 2009.
He was 79 years old and was a Mason for 42 years.

R.·.W.·.John Dethlefsen passed to that house not made with hands,
eternal in the heavens, on 2/5/09 @ 11PM.
John took his Entered Apprentice Degree on 2/17/50,
Passed to Fellowcraft 3/17/50
and was Raised to Master Mason 4/21/50.
He was 90 years old and was a Mason for 58 years.

Bro. Elton Trenn, DSA had a defibrillator installed in his chest.

Bro. Don Bennett was going to have a defibrillator installed in his chest
replacing the pacemaker, but a blood clot has put that on hold for a while.

Bro. Bob Getschel’s 18 year old son, Bobby passed away in his sleep
on June 15th, 2007. He had a heart proplem since he was 12,
with open heart surgery when he was 13 - although he was
just at his Dr. and everything looked fine.
